A vase of flowers with a 70s vibe.
Chain stitch is one of the basic embroidery stitches and one the most polyvalent ones. It can create outlines, fill up big spaces, and give intriguing texture. For this design, I wanted a combination of folk art embroidery with today’s graphic floral touch, and 70’s colour vibe.
The process is painstaking long, yet oddly satisfying, taking a bit more than 40 hours of embroidery, without counting the stages of design and preparation.
The final hand embroidered piece measures 27 by 36 cm. Cotton thread on cotton fabric.
